Oria Marine
Comparison

Oria vs Seanapps

Seanapps is the connected box from Groupe Beneteau, fitted as standard on their new boats and available as a retrofit through their dealer network. Oria is an independent box that reads the NMEA 2000 bus on any hull and records what each outing actually cost you. The two overlap less than the category suggests.

The short version

If you own one Beneteau, Jeanneau, Prestige or Lagoon and it already has Seanapps fitted, keep it. It watches the boat while you are away, it carries a sensor catalogue we do not sell, and it puts your dealer one tap away. Oria is built for a different job: running several boats as a business, on mixed brands, where you need engine hours, fuel per outing and maintenance that fires on measured use rather than on a calendar. If that is your problem, the brand of the hull stops mattering and the numbers start to.

What each one actually does

Both read the NMEA 2000 bus. What differs is what they do with it, what it costs to get there, and who else sees your data.

Choose Seanapps if

  • Your boat is a Beneteau, Jeanneau, Prestige, Lagoon, Excess, Four Winns, Wellcraft or Delphia and came with Seanapps fitted. It is already there and already paid for.
  • You want the boat watched while you are away from it. Water ingress, intrusion, battery and tank levels are their home ground, and we sell no sensors at all.
  • You want the maintenance loop to end with someone booking the work. Their app talks to your dealer, who can take the appointment. We hand you the data and stop there.
  • You are one owner with one boat rather than an operator with several. Their consumer tier at 219 EUR incl. VAT per year is a smaller cheque than ours.
  • You value the size of the network. Groupe Beneteau lists over 600 dealers worldwide trained to fit it. Ours is a smaller operation and we will not pretend otherwise.

Choose Oria if

  • You run several boats and they are not all the same brand. Oria reads any NMEA 2000 network without going through anybody's dealer channel.
  • You need fuel per outing rather than a tank gauge, because you are costing jobs, charters or contracts rather than planning a weekend.
  • You want maintenance to fire on hours the engine actually ran, and to be told before a hull reaches the interval.
  • You need the data to leave the platform. CSV and a documented API are in the Pro tier.
  • You want a supplier who is not owned by a boatbuilder, and data that is not shared with a dealer or a manufacturer by design.
  • You need zone alerts that cover speed and time spent, not only leaving the mooring.
Price

What each one costs to start

Oria
29 EUR / month / boat
  • Pro tier, per boat, excluding VAT. Personal is 19 EUR per month for one boat.
  • Hardware is included with the subscription.
  • Twelve-month commitment, then no commitment and cancel any time.
  • SIM and connectivity included.
Seanapps
1 319 EUR incl. VAT to fit
  • Pack Retrofit Standard, their published price, delivery and installation excluded.
  • Two extensions are needed to reach the boat's electronics and the engine. Neither is priced publicly.
  • Installation is by an approved dealer and priced by that dealer.
  • Then 219 EUR incl. VAT per year for the consumer tier, first year included with the pack. Annual only, no monthly option.
  • Professional tiers, excluding VAT: Fleet at 190 EUR per year per boat, Insights at 600 EUR per year for all boats.

Oria prices are stated excluding VAT. Seanapps publishes its consumer prices including 20 percent French VAT and its professional prices excluding VAT, so the two are not directly comparable without adjusting. Their Fleet tier at 19 EUR excluding VAT per boat per month is cheaper than Oria Pro at 29 EUR; it carries four published features, and the fleet management features sit in a Fleet+ tier marked coming soon.

Questions

Before you ask

  • Yes. They read the same bus and neither transmits on it, so both can listen at once. Owners of a Beneteau Group boat who also run it commercially sometimes do exactly that: Seanapps for the hull and the dealer relationship, Oria for hours, fuel and the fleet view.

Twenty minutes, your fleet, an honest answer.

Tell us how many boats you run, what brands they are and how you track hours and fuel today. If Seanapps is the better fit for your setup, we will say so.
